Default Charter Changes (Chat Server)

The information we have on our vent server is limited at best. I have expanded on it. let me know what you think.

Guild Live Chat:
This is mainly for U.S. guild members. While I have no problem with the UK members using the Vent Server, the server is located here in the US and there are lag issues for a lot of the EU members which can cause trouble for them if they use it for in game chat. I just cannot promise good connections for those living across the big pond.
The guild will attempt to maintain a ventrillo chat sever. This is a separate server in which members will have access to in order get together to voice chat either while in game or just to hang out. Currently our vent server is limited to 50 slots, meaning that at any one time we can have no more than 50 people on line.
This Service cost a little about $150.00 per year, if I remember correctly. I cannot promise that the service will continue on my paycheck alone, between Vent and my yearly cost for the website it gets very expensive very quickly. I do ask for donations whenever it is possible for members to do so in order to keep up our vent server. Those that do make donations have their name placed onto the preferred members list and are guaranteed a slot on the server. If the server ever goes over 50 players it will start kicking those that are not on that list first. To make a donation you can go to Lost Guard Forums - vbDonator. Make sure you fill in the other blocks on the donation page and then PM me on the site and give me a password you want to use on vent as well as your screen name on vent so I can get you flagged.
The Vent information can be found on the front page of our guild site and is only visible to guild members. If you need the client you can pick it up for free at Ventrilo - Download.
HINT: If you are having trouble using Vent while the game is running, right click on the Vent icon and click on “run as administrator” this will allow vent to run normally while playing the game. Also if you don’t have it set already set vent up to key up with a button instead of by sound. The background music and effects can key it up which is very annoying to other users.

Wow! I didn't realize Vent was so expensive! I will definitely donate once WAR goes live and the guild is up and running there.

It seems strange to me that a game so focused on RvR doesn't have an ingame voice chat component, but it really seems like they don't

It's not that bad. It adds up to about 20 bucks a month for a 50 slot server.

I think that, at peak times (EU and US) the guild should try and encourage people to only use it for keep raids and such, to ensure there is space for these activities to take place on the vent server, these events have to take priority, sad but true

Right now there is actually plenty of room. It is really easy to expand our slots, and get more people in if we need to. With $150 a month needed to run the server, even if everyone active right now donated $10 we would have more than enough to run a 50 slot server for over a year. Some people can't donate of course because of age restrictions, or they just can't afford it. The point is that it is really cheap to run, and the more people that donate the longer we can actually run the server without putting a strain on Dagda.

Its all about helping the guild out, and keeping our best and easiest form of communication open and ready so we don't have to use the archaic means of typing .
